Tags and card. My own frog design - unfinished.
Quilling, or paper filigree, is the art of creating designs with narrow strips of paper that have been rolled, shaped and arranged to form art designs.
Quilling dates back to the 16th century when French and Italian nuns created ornate borders to embellish religious articles. During the 18th century, quilling was considered a suitable pastime for "ladies." Examples of quilling art can be found in many museums.
Today, a greater variety than ever of colours and shades of acid-free paper strips allows the quilling artist to create bolder designs of lasting beauty, as well as unique, fun designs for children, and greeting cards, gift tags and more.
I love making art for kids.

A gift, August 2010
It's not finished yet, but this is what I decided to make for an upcoming 50th anniversary. Will post another pic of it when it's finished. (No blabbing! )
Just had a bit more to add, really. So this is it, before framing.
OK, I spray painted a white shadowbox frame with gold and framed it up. C'est fini!
Thanks for the message on Twitter, I came right over to see! They are wonderful Wendy! Thanks for sharing your great quilling work.

Goose got a little kit with quilling papers for her b-day that made me think of you. We have always wanted to try it but never have. I'm sure we'll bring it out now that the weather is getting chilly.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely. I love the frog especially!
A lot of people comment on that frog... and I didn't get a picture of the finished piece. But I'm going to make another. :) Sure hope Goose likes it! If you need any tips, don't hesitate to ask. :)
ReplyDeleteWow!... your artwork is so nice. I do like that frog.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm just about to make another. :)
